Connor G Cook, Composer

Connor Cook grew up in North Carolina.  She started taking piano lessons at 4 years old.  When she was in the second grade, she decided she wanted to be a film composer after hearing John Williams' score for "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".  She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Music in music theory and composition.  Connor studied abroad in Cork, Ireland for a summer and discovered her love for traditional Irish music.  She plays in Irish sessions several times a week.  She also plays bluegrass music and was a member the Steely Pan Steel Band steel drum ensemble during her time at Appalachian.

Connor recently graduated Columbia College Chicago with an MFA in music composition for the screen.  Connor happily resides in Los Angeles.

Connor's compositions for media are greatly influenced by her background in folk music.  Her whimsical and quirky style lends itself well to folk instruments.  She often uses mandolin, button accordion, piano accordion, penny whistle, banjo, and guitar in her scores. Connor specializes in creating  unique and distinctive scores, each with their own fingerprint,  for all of her collaborative projects.

Connor enjoys making short stop motion films to score.  She likes knowing every step that goes into making films, as it gives her a better understanding of the art.
